Phalanx CIWS

Not compensating...

The Phalanx CIWS is an anti-ship missile defence system. It is a close-in weapon system (CIWS) and was designed and manufactured by the General Dynamics Corporation, Pomona Division.

It also looks like the Transformers franchise is trying to enter the middle eastern market.

Consisting of a radar-guided 20mm Gatling gun mounted on a swivelling base, the Phalanx is used by the United States Navy on every class of surface combat ship because why not?? The CIWS is designed to be the last line of defence against anti-ship missiles after they called for some kind of Chuck Norris type answer to defence. Due to its design criteria its effective range is very short relative to the range of modern ship missiles, from 1 to 5 nautical miles (9 km). However the gun mount moves at a very high speed and with great precision unlike the missiles.

CIWS mounts fire at a rate of 4,500 rounds per minute which sounds so amazing it will make your ears bleed and also has a stupidly massive 1,550 round magazine which coincidentally is the exact same size clips Rambo carrys in Rambo. The velocity of the rounds once fired is approximately 3,600 feet per second which for us none scientists is about the same speed of your average seasoned porn star's money shot. The rounds are Armour-piercing tungsten penetrator rounds or depleted uranium with discarding sabots and  the kinetic projectiles are designed to pierce and explode an incoming missile's warhead in a cloud of justice.

Not being satisfied with perma owning missiles at sea they also wanted to own them on land. The end result was called Centurion and although 3 men getting their suits beamed down to them by some hot chick and a orangutan was what spang to mind it turned out to be a stupid gun on a truck. :((

  5. Can't wait for them to release the home version. What's the use of having an imaginary compound if you can't defend it against missile attacks by filling the environment with uranium?

  6. Sadly, in the future, I foresee the raw power of gatling guns, such as pictured above, being rendered obsolete by increasingly sophisticated missile systems with larger blast radii. On the other hand, said missiles may be rendered obsolete in turn by laser weaponry, which is sufficiently awesome.

  10. United States' weapons always amazed me. Well, this is a defense system but, after seeing this enemies probably don't want to shot any missile.

  12. It looks like a giant tic tac with enough precision to give me a hair cut, Either that or a cone head with a mounted mini gun... I wonder how much that truck cost to build around the mini gun.
