NYPD Testing Gun-Scanning Technology

Police, along with the U.S. Department of Defence, are researching new technology in a scanner placed on police vehicles that can detect concealed weapons.

Racial profiling makes me sick.....

It’s called Terahertz Imaging Detection. It measures the energy radiating from a body up to 16 feet away, and can detect anything blocking it, like a gun or power levels that are over 9000.

But Civil Liberties Groups Up In Arms as usual...

They seem to think this is invading ones privacy but this isn't like Japanese porn and the cameras not in my bathroom toilet.

Everything in moderation, words I live by. And by "i live by" i mean say i do but don't really.

If these cameras were installed outside nightclubs, football or handegg stadiums or even train stations wheres the real problem? I'm all for not wanting to have every text message, email read and every phone call listened too and i understand things can lead to bigger things but i think this is beneficial and if it stops a few people stabbing/shooting each other then why not.

  1. Oh my other name is Goku, sounds like I'll have a though time ahead. More serious though, that's really cool!

  2. what kind of scanner is it though? what kind of "energy" does it read?
Turns out it reads t-waves(terahertz), which reside just at the border of the infared and microwave spectrums in case anyone was curious.
    safe? probably...research pending...

  3. Kind of invasive but I guess I can't really relate to problems like concealed weapons around here.

  4. Adding more damn waves to the atmosphere around us, cancer cases will rise and they'll blame ummm the sun, right blame the sun some more..haha...not against it for civil liberty though, as long as they don't take it too far, which they will.

  5. Ok, I'm against this. I get that it has a great purpose and what not, but it's not going to be used for that purpose. It might not be Japanese porn, but we both know some perverts are going to have a lot of fun with it. Not to mention, it's a severe violation of rights. Plus, how many innocent people are going to attacked/questioned/accused for carrying a flash light that looked like a deadly weapon?

  6. I am not for this one. It is a slippery slope to be starting down and stuff like this can be improperly used or give birth to even more invasive practices

  9. I don't really like this, but for security seems it's effective.

  11. Whats wrong with a metal detector? Though I guess being 16 feet away is generally much more preferable.

  18. This is a prime example of how the liberal socialist dogma set loose in America by the Jewish media is destroying our civil liberties. Before you know it, Obama and his gestapo will bust down your front door and haul you off to prison camps for even thinking about owning a firearm- a civil right that is GUARANTEED by the constitution! I'm going to carry my firearm EVERYWHERE for the next month or so to make sure this doesn't happen to me!
